1.  The Southern Alliance for Animal Welfare has programs ranging from low-cost spay/neuter certificates, available to everyone regardless of income, to programs that will either subsidize or completely pay for pet sterilization and vaccinations. The free and subsidized services are income based.

The Southern Alliance for Animal Welfare reaches out to pet owners who feel intimidated by full service veterinary clinics because they just do not have the financial resources to pay their prices. Many of these pet owners have the desire and ability to become responsible pet owners; they just need a helping hand in getting to that level.

SAAW has 501(c)3 status and all contributions to SAAW are tax deductable.

2.  SAAW exists to create a better life for area dogs and cats, but our community benefits as well!

  3.  The SAAW spay/neuter certificate and subsidy program in Nashville and Davidson County has no operating costs and very low administrative costs.  So, when you donate, your money goes to our mission and is put to work!

When our efforts result in an animal being fixed and vaccinated, of course that pet benefits but what about the intangible rewards that you may not see?  The good that our work does extends far beyond that dog or cat - the entire community benefits!  SAAW's efforts also include:

  • Reduced dog/cat impoundment at local animal shelters and animal control facilities

  • Reduced dog/cat euthanasia at local animal shelters and animal control facilities

  • Reduction in the number of stray dogs/cats throughout Davidson and surrounding counties

  • Reduced costs for providing animal control services in the areas we serve

  • Healthier pets, especially in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods

  • Reduced threat of rabies to humans and pets

  • Fewer dog bites and attacks. Dog attacks are the most commonly reported childhood public health problem in the United States. Statistics show that unsterilized dogs are 3 times more likely to maul or kill than sterilized dogs.

  • Better educated, more responsible pet owners in the neighborhoods and communities we serve.
